12th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 24 September 1962. Shown here are PRR engines #2005, #9705-B, and #9724. All were built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. #2005 and #9724 are BF-16's built in 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower each. #9705-B is a BF-15A built in 1950 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. They are stopped in front of the Altoona Passenger Station, while the crew awaits permission to proceed up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West.. |
