BNSF 2572
Thirty-four years and one month after photographing Santa Fe GP35 3372 in southern California, I encountered it again working for a Santa Fes successor BNSF Railway, but still wearing its classic Santa Fe colors. This engine rolled out of EMD's factory in La Grange, Illinois, in May 1965, making it 38 years old at the time I found it in Havelock, Nebraska, on May 15th, 2013. It has worked for two railroads in those years (Santa Fe and Burlington Northern Santa Fe / BNSF Railway) and carried four roadnumbers (ATSF 1372, ATSF 3372, ATSF 2872 and BNSF 2572) - and it is still a sharp looking machine!
