Although inactive by this time, the L&W was storing tank cars on its tracks. The SW-1 ( ex G&F #70 ) is still in Wadley, rusting away

Mike Woodruff General Unit is perhaps the last surviving Georgia and Florida diesel; ex-G&F #70, EMD serial 11097, built 07/50, to SOU #1004, NS #1004. 4/14/2006 9:05:33 AM

Eric Rickert General Last few times I saw it, it is sitting on the west fork of the wye where the L&W connects with NS. From a residential street, its about 200' back in the woods. 3/30/2007 7:42:23 AM
Dana Morrow General Does anyone know who to contact to get it donated and moved to the Hocking Valley Scenic Railraod in Nelsonville, Ohio? 7/7/2007 5:46:58 PM
Dana Morrow General Also, a recent photo (2004) is on railpictures.net web site 7/7/2007 5:47:52 PM
Chad peters General Dana, I'm sorry to tell you that as of 2009, the locomotive is still very much in use. The L&W uses it to work a number of small industries located along its line. So, the loco will probably never be donated. You could try buying it, but since it's the L&W's only locomotive, I doubt that would happen either. 7/29/2009 10:31:16 AM
adam wells General thats hard to believe looking at it, not a scratch in either knuckle, doors left open, and magically ends up under the same tree in every photo? Someone owning it I believe, using it I have my doubts. 4/16/2010 3:18:13 AM
