Although inactive by this time, the L&W was storing tank cars on its tracks. The SW-1 ( ex G&F #70 ) is still in Wadley, rusting away

Unit is perhaps the last surviving Georgia and Florida diesel; ex-G&F #70, EMD serial 11097, built 07/50, to SOU #1004, NS #1004.

Last few times I saw it, it is sitting on the west fork of the wye where the L&W connects with NS. From a residential street, its about 200' back in the woods.

Does anyone know who to contact to get it donated and moved to the Hocking Valley Scenic Railraod in Nelsonville, Ohio?

Dana, I'm sorry to tell you that as of 2009, the locomotive is still very much in use. The L&W uses it to work a number of small industries located along its line. So, the loco will probably never be donated. You could try buying it, but since it's the L&W's only locomotive, I doubt that would happen either.

thats hard to believe looking at it, not a scratch in either knuckle, doors left open, and magically ends up under the same tree in every photo? Someone owning it I believe, using it I have my doubts.
