NS Westbound Vehicle Train 270 ( Birmingham to Lincoln, Al. Honda Plant ) smokes it up as they pass through Prescott, Al. on their way back to BNSFs East Thomas Yard with a rare pair of SD38Ps for power. Not long after the 270 passed this location the woods caught on fire, I wonder if sparks came from the exhaust stacks of 1557 & 1559 while they were under heavy load pulling this hill that set the woods on fire or was it just a careless smoker between one of the crew members on 270, or was it a careless smoker in a passing vehicle, you never know what happened, you be the Fire Chief Investigater as 270 passes by with the deturbo'd SD38P's in run 8 struggling up grade with smells of diesel & burning oil spewing from 1559, after these SD38P's 1557 & 1559 passed by this location the air was filled with a thick cloud of diesel, I'd bet the 1559 spewed out some sparks that set the woods on fire, it has been known to happen in the past.
