Built in December 1959 as Southern SD24 6952 (c/n 25652) on EMD Order 5606, it was renumbered to 6346 by the Southern, sold to PNC during January 1978. It was leased for about a year as PNC SD24 6346, then sent to Morrison Knudsen and rebuilt to a SD18m and returned as PNC 1846. It was leased during late 1979 - early 1980 to the BN, and in late-1980 it was leased to the C&NW. In March 1982, the C&NW bought 26 SD18m's from PNC, this one became C&NW 6643. |
