Description:  Byerly. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Fred Byerly. Shown here (L to R) is Penn Central Railroad engine #4601, an E33 (C-C) electric built by General Electric as Virginian Railway number "131" in October of 1956, rated at 3,300 horsepower, acquired by the Norfolk & Western Railroad and renumbered "231," acquired by the New Haven Railroad and renumbered "300," absorbed by the Penn Central and renumbered "4601," absorbed by Conrail with the same number, and presently owned by the Illinois Railroad Museum in Union. The photographer's name, the exact date, and the location are not recorded. This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Electric Railroading ~ Penn Central and Pennsylvania Lines" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (868-6).

Description:  Here is a trio of PC electric units inherited from Virginian Rwy. Built by GE in August of 1955 and designated EL-C, these units along with their 9 other sisters were true boomers - Virginian to NW to NH finally to PC who reclassified the EL-C units as E33. All retired March of 1981 when Conrail shut down the electric freight operations. No photographer listed.

Description:  This and its sister units were quite a group of boomer locomotives having appeared on several railroad rosters. PC #4603 was built in November of 1956 as Verginian #134. When the VGN and Norfolk & Western merged, it became NW 234. After NW dropped electrication, it moved over to the New Haven roster as NH 303. Along comes Penn Central which renumbered it 4603 as seen here. Later it would move onto the Conrail roster as their CR 4603. An unknown photographer captured this moment in the PC roster.
