Album Info:This album contains pictures of a 2010 trip to the NS yard in Albany, GA. The yard is ex CofGA, and bears many of the marks of the predecessor and final owner Southern Railway. Albany was a secondary terminal yard that fed secondary and branch lines into Southwest Georgia and the eastern edge of Southeastern Alabama. Traffic has historically been agricultural and pulp and paper related, with a sprinkling of basic aggregates and manufacturing. The feature is the former locomtive sand and fueling tracks, shutdown and left derelict in the late 1990s. How these transition era facilities survived the scrapper's torch is anyones guess, but stripped of wire and piping, they will not last much longer.
