Album Info: | Covers the former Illinois Central Gulf trackage between Jackson, TN and Water Valley JCT, MS. The Illinois Central Gulf abandoned from Jackson, TN to Grand JCT, TN and from Oxford, MS to Coffeeville, MS in 1982. The Illinois Central Gulf abandoned from Coffeeville, MS to Bruce JCT, MS in 1984.
The portion from Grand JCT, TN to Oxford, MS is operated by the Mississippi Central Railway but is used for storage cars only after the last customer shut down in March of 2016. The Mississippi Central abandoned 3 miles of track through downtown Oxford in 2000 due to the City of Oxford purchasing the right of way in order to construct a new road through the Ole Miss Campus.
The portion from Bruce JCT to Water Valley JCT is operated by Iowa Pacific's Grenada Railway and is used for car storage only.
Also included are pics from the connecting short line Mississippi & Skuna Valley which ran from Bruce JCT to Bruce, MS, which was abandoned in 2012. |
