| Album Info: | Taken when the old WB main was still in use. The snowsheds above Donner Lake's west end had some cool dwarf signals in them, but were a maintenance nightmare. Icicles were dispatched with shotguns, and many sacks of rock salt were used between the rails. MOW crews had tough duty here, and nowhere to run if a train came. More than one mishap occurred inside when trains came unexpectedly and equipment was destroyed. The old snowsheds near Norden, along with the old Norden train order office, turntable, beanery, and residences were fun to visit and are sorely missed. |
