Album Info: | If you’re a fan of both narrow gage steam and lobster shacks let me suggest Boothbay Railway Village, Maine as a place you’d probably like. Boothbay #6 – a 2-foot gage 0-4-0t Henschel locomotive built in 1934 was operating on the day we visited. It pulls an excursion train on a short ¾ mile loop around a charming village of historic buildings and artifacts from rural Maine. There are good exhibits on Maine railroad history, including the once and future 2-foot gage railroads that existed here. There’s an interesting HO gage model railroad layout. And there’s no shortage of lobster shacks and seafood restaurants hereabouts. |
