Album Info: | Through the mid 1990's, traffic levels on Soldier Summit remained steady. It was possible to photograph 12-15 trains in daylight. Amtrak, Utah Rly coal trains, SP manifests and coal trains and helper movements kept the mountain grade busy. In 1997, the Union Pacific merged with the SP and rerouted most manifest trains onto it's Wyoming overland route. Traffic levels fell about 50% and one of Utah's busiest mountain railroads was no longer busy. |
