Album Info:After the steam excursion led by RDG #2102 and GTW #4070 had performed their magic on Horseshoe Curve and were on their way back to Pittsburgh, my buddy and I visited Juniata shops for the first time. Barely a year after startup in May, 1977, the state of Conrail's physical plant was still clearly hurting. The Juniata backshop was full of EL and PC diesels in various states of repair. The EL and PC F7A's, F7B, and EL E8A's would be gone from Altoona a mere 3 months later, with the E8A's filling the Juniata shop deadlines. Sadly many operated in EL paint for only a few months after CR startup. EL 819(CR 4009) and 821(CR 4011) received their CR number but were in the deadline March, 1978. EL 825(CR 4014), 831(CR 4020), 832(CR 4021), and 833(CR 4022) were the success stories as all were renumbered and used in commuter and OCS service.
