Album Info: | In 2010 Siemens revealed its new Vectron platform. The development of the Vectron started back in 2006. The current models for electric locomotives that Siemens offers are the EuroSprinters ES 64 F4 and ES 64 U4. Both were developed for one specific customer. They comply to the specific demands of these two operators. Other customers like leasing companies and open-access operators got more flexibility into those models, but with much higher costs and a lot of different systems. With the F4 and U4 Siemens has to search for customers that fit the machine's properties, instead of offering a product that everyone could use. With the EuroSprinter family, Siemens has no answer on the Traxx AC/DC/MS from Bombardier. Vectron is a product with many different predefined options and modular country kits for meeting customer needs with proven solutions. Customers with requirements falling within this predefined solution area receive a highly individualized, cost-effective solution quickly. Vectron also offers the option of customized modifications. Preferences above and beyond the predefined portfolio of the 6.4 MW-platform for Multisystem, AC, DC or Diesel can be easily fulfilled, based on specific development and, if necessary, homologation work.
