Album Info:I chased the daily (Mon-Fri) interchange between Pan Am Railways and Vermont Railways that meets in North Bennington, VT. at approximately noon. On Monday-Wednesday-Friday the Pan Am train is AD-1 out of North Adams, and on Tuesday-Thursday it’s RJ-1 out of Rotterdam Junction. I was trackside on a Wednesday, and intercepted AD-1 at Hoosick Junction, NY. AD-1 dropped it’s train of 13 cars on the interchange track at Hoosick Junction, then the two locomotives proceeded light up to North Bennington where they received a large transfer train (60+ cars) from VTR. I cannot explain why AD-1 did not take it’s 13 cars up to North Bennington – perhaps because VTR was planning a pick-up at an on-line customer at Walloomsac, NY, and they chose to get their 13 additional interchange cars at that time. I got several good shots of the PAR diesels on trestles as they headed over to North Bennington, and the beautifully-kept-up ex-Rutland station in North Bennington is a wonderful photo prop.
